Pre-Instrument Class The Pre-Instrument Class is for students in preschool or just beginning kindergarten. The class is a pre-requisite to instrument lessons for students who may be too old to enter our early childhood program, or for those who have completed the early childhood program. It is designed for students who need more of an introduction to each instrument before choosing their musical path. The 18-week class will focus on repertoire and rhythm familiarity, practice skills and parent training. [ more ] Violin Group Lessons: Beginners - Twinkles These classes are for young beginners. Children should have at least one semester of the Pre-Instrument Class and be assessed for instrument readiness by an instructor. Young beginners must enroll in both a 30-minute private lesson and a 30-minute group lesson. Group classes are fun and inspiring as they provide enthusiasm, motivation, and support from their peers. [ more ] Violin Lessons Books 1 - 2 Bethwood students in Suzuki Books 1-2 are required to enroll in a minimum of a 30 minute private lesson, and a 30 minute group class at the appropriate Suzuki book level, as recommended by their instructor. [ more ] Violin Lessons - Book 3 and above Students in books 3 and above will be learning and performing increasingly advanced pieces, and should therefore increase their private lesson and group lesson lengths. At this level, students will work on note reading, theory and scales along with their Suzuki repertoire. There are also other opportunities for students to play music with their peers such as chamber ensemble and orchestra. [ more ] Cello Lessons Pre-Twinkle Through Early Book 1 Cello students begin lessons at age 4 through adult. A weekly group class is required for cellists in Suzuki Books 1 with a choice of a 30 or 45 minute private lesson. The ‘Twinkle Group’ is a weekly 30 minute class for cello students who are in the beginning half of book one. The focus will be on the Twinkle Variations, review and a preview of new pieces. The students will develop musicianship, listening and ensemble skills as they play music together... [ more ] Cello Lessons - Mid Book 1 Through Book 2 Students at this level are able to schedule a 30 or 45 minute private lesson and a weekly 45 minute group class. The teacher will work on reviewing and polishing Suzuki pieces, technique, musicianship and note reading. On the 2nd Wednesday of each month there is a 45-minute class, the All Cello Play-In, where students will work on ensemble skills and have an opportunity to play as a multi-level group. All cellists are welcome! [ more ] Advanced Cellists These students are in Suzuki book 3 & above and need a longer private lesson, 45 or 60 minutes in order to include note-reading, sight reading and scale study. They may choose to play in weekly ensembles or the Bethwood Chamber Orchestra. Playing in ensembles or orchestra provides an opportunity for students to play with peers, improve listening skills, note reading and musicianship. Performance opportunities for these groups are given several times a year... [ more ] Guitar Lessons Suzuki guitar lessons are instruction in the classical guitar method and begin at age 5 through adult. Students can choose a 30, 45 or 60 minute lesson. As students learn to play the guitar they will develop technical skills through scales, rhythm exercises, tonalization and repetition of established pieces. Group lessons are given when the instructor is able to place students of similar playing levels. [ more ] |
